“Therapy intensives are an invitation to pause the noise of life and give space to what truly needs your attention.”
Therapy Intensives: Deep Healing for Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma
If you’ve noticed that regular hourly sessions help but don’t quite get you where you want to be, therapy intensives might be a great fit. These focused sessions usually last around three hours, giving us the time to really dive deep into what’s going on and make meaningful progress. With that extra space, you can explore your emotions and experiences more fully, helping you break through stuck patterns and get clearer on how to move forward in your life.
During therapy intensives, I bring together a mix of proven approaches like EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The goal in integrating these therapies is to create a plan that fits you.
Similar to weekly therapy, we start with an intake session, allowing me to better understand you and your goals. After completing your intake, we decide on the number of intensive sessions, typically this 2-4 sessions. I recommend they are done weekly, sometimes two times per week to adequately move through and address the presenting issue. I tailor the intensive sessions to focus on the specific challenges we’ve identified. This approach helps us dig into the root of the issues aiming for real, lasting change. Many people find these longer sessions especially helpful when they want focused support, extra time to go deeper, or a fresh perspective on things they’ve been dealing with for a while.
After completing intensive sessions, some clients like to have weekly therapy to sustain the growth they have made where others feel the work is complete and only reach back out for additional support. One of the benefits about intensives is that they can be done in coordination with a therapist you may be currently seeing for weekly or ongoing support. You would be able to see me for an intensive "episode of care" with the intention of staying with your referring therapist after the intensives are completed.
